logline

A grieving woman’s attempt to resurrect her former partner as a digital persona quickly turns dark as technology to help starts to harm.

vision

This film examines abusive control in a relationship through the lens of technology. Through a fictional lens, it challenges us to confront the fragile boundary between human intimacy and technological intrusion. How do the tools that are supposed to make our lives easier and more connected, serve to harm us? Do we control technology or do we give it the opportunity to control us?

logline

A young woman and her mother find themselves in a kitchen with no obvious exit. Will the parental relationship and the mother's memories be strong enough to help them find their way out?

vision

This film explores a stylized, surreal exploration of a mother-daughter bond, framed through a futile search in a looping kitchen that mirrors an inner emotional journey. It focuses on the realities of being present in the moment against rapidly passing time. Ultimately, it serves as a poetic meditation on lost time, acceptance, and the realization that love is best expressed through shared moments rather than relentless struggle for better futures.

The Real Challenge

experimental | 2020 | 1.5 mins

created entirely by Charlotte Woolfe

logline

During a routine rehearsal, an actress finds her identity challenged and tested by unknown forces.

vision

This film takes a fresh perspective on the Turning test, by combining the instrument of Chekhov repetition style for rehearsals to explore what it would take for an artificially intelligent system (AI) to reach understanding of the self. It then explores the consequences of reaching that awareness. The film used a combination of early AI to create the soundtrack, script, title track and visual effects: GPT2, StyleGan2 and MuseNet. It was self shot on a phone camera.
